In this issue, mainly made up of articles by young researchers, we will explore different situations where contact between languages calls into question the concepts of identity, integration, “common language”, norms, etc. These sociolinguistic issues lead to reflections on the relationship between language(s) and identity, language(s) and integration, and language(s) and marginalisation.
In a world threatened by the standardisation of practices (such as linguistic, cultural, etc.) and a utilitarian vision of languages, what tools and leeway are available to speakers, on both an individual and collective level? How does one circumvent the imposition of standardised uses? How does one assert their identity against the steamroller that is the process of practice standardisation? Which ideas could aid in these situations?
